Mean Mom Award

Without even trying, I often do things that allow me to keep my "Mean Mom" status.

As an example, let me share a conversation between my 14 year old (M) and me that occurred last week:

Me: I need you to put all your shoes away. They don't belong in the den.
M: I rather keep them in the den.
Me: If they are still there when I go to bed, I will hide them all.
M: That's fine.... then I won't be able to go to school tomorrow.
Me: I will hide all but one left shoe and one right shoe. You can still go to school tomorrow.
M: That's mean.

Are there any other "Mean Moms" out there?  Share your story below in the comment section.

And let me clarify, I use the word "mean" to represent "I mean business!"   This mom is raising a self-sufficient, responsible young man, even if he doesn't like it.
